Products » Solar pool heating » Recommended number of collectors

The table below gives various standard pool sizes and the recommended number of solar collectors. The general rule is to have the collector area around 50% of the pool surface area to ensure sufficient heat.

Roof dimensions can be deceiving when viewing the roof from the ground, so be sure to contact us to see how many collectors you can fit.

Recommended number of collectors is based upon collector orientation facing south with no shading. Additional collectors may be required if they face east or west, there is shading on the collectors, there is excessive shading on the pool, if there are excessive wind speeds, or if pool temperature desired is above standard.

Estimated energy production is based upon FSEC test results. Actual results will vary depending upon weather conditions and collector mounting conditions.

Solar pool heating is the most economical method of heating a pool.
